In rather exciting news towards the growth of the AI sector in India, Yondr Group has entered into a JV with Everstone. Yondr Group is renowned as a service provider of hyper-scale data centers. They will be opening up data centers all across India with a whopping $1 bn investment. EverYondr (JV brand) has taken up space in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region for the first data centre pegged to deliver IT capacity of 30 MW by 2023 and double the capacity, later. The joint venture is aimed at servicing the fast-growing Indian market, by supporting hyper-scale clients who need help with performance outcomes, meeting data centre capacity as well as technical real estate needs.
If you have already watched Anthony Bourdain's new documentary, âRoadrunner,â released earlier in July this month, you may not have questioned Bourdain's trademark voice in the film, not until you read the news pieces which broke how the director revealed the use of AI to recreate the legendary chef and journalist's voice for all of 45 seconds. This use of AI received a lot of backlash on social media and some even thought it was taking the use of AI 'too far'. The Story of Us!
I would like to mention this amazing incident that happened when we were just starting out. We had just gotten our first investment from my uncle, the first investor in IA.
Puru (my co-founder) and I, one Friday evening, were at the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship at MIT (we just call it the MIT Entrepreneurship Center), working away. The entire place, barring one of the employees of the center, was empty (Friday evening!!). A gentleman came to the Center - he was an alum of MIT, now a Professor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Taipei. He and his class were on a tour, and he wanted to show them the Entrepreneurship Center. During his conversation with us, he asked us what we were working on, and we were ready with our pitch (always). Right after, he gave me his card, and asked me to connect with him after a month, when he would be back in Taipei.
Thinking that this would be just his way of soft landing us, I nonetheless, emailed him. Sure enough, a month later, he emailed me, and we spoke and he immediately invested in us, as Taipei Angels. He also was in charge of Taipei Angels, who became the second investor in IA. Thank you Chester, for the faith you have placed in us
